Pandering Pandora

Many times we subconciously form our perceptions of people based on looks and first impressions.

Someone in your class may be a top scorer-type snobbish and arrogant person, or that's what you think. Suddenly one day they spot you out from the crowd and smile at you, and you find your perception of them suddenly backflips 180 degrees.

I've learnt to trust my instincts. If a person's smile looks forced and fake, it most probably is. Better be wary than sorry.

Can any female reader here tell me what is L'Oreal? All I know is it's a cosmetics company. I've been entasked to persuade / convince them to sponsor an event. I'm a guy - heck, what do I know about cosmetics? Help!

It's time to grow up and ready myself for the world. This is Earth, not Dreamland. This is Malaysia, not Utopia. There are things that we can change, things we can't. Things we should open our mouths for; things we should keep them shut.

But one thing that never changes, is that education still is king. We are ruled by a limited range of alphabets from A to around F. We are tagged with an obscure number which can decide in our being hired or our being sidelined.

Some people devote their lives solely for the study of science. Some people devote their lives to building their business empire. Some people devote their lives to helping the needy. Some people devote their lives on spending time with their loved ones. Some people devote their lives on things they do not enjoy. Some people would like to devote their lives on something, if only they could figure out what.

Who's to say who's more successful? Who leaves the Earth with more dirt compared with the rest?

I realize that I work with girls a lot in my projects. It's a wonder I haven't fallen for any of them yet. Is this called professionalism; or am I just too cold-hearted?

Sometime ago I set these short-term goals: To learn Chinese. To do community service. To stay humble and to help a friend in need.

I'm glad to say that I've had the chance to do all of the above at least once, if not currently in progress, and thereby achieving my goals.
