Zipping It
Gravity pulls all things down. Everything unrestrained goes downwards. Ok now that we've established that, have you ever wondered why the zipper on our clothing, has its rightful 'closed' state at the -- seemingly impossible to maintain and gravity-defying -- 'up' position?
Needless to say, this morning after a restroom visit, I neglected to ensure my jeans zipper was all the way at its uppermost position, and hence during the exam paper, it started riding down without my knowledge and it was some time before it came to mine. But heck, it was exam time and heck everyone was so worn out after that that I'm glad no one noticed before me, or so I think and so I hope. But then, as I said, this was needless to be said.
And I began to wonder, what if the zipper could be inverted -- to have its 'open' state at top-most, and its rightful 'closed' state at the bottom. So that we zip down, instead of zip up. Wouldn't that prevent the 'riding down' effect -- and loads of potential embarrassment?
