One Scary Penguin, this LINUX
"Getting started with your own Linux system does not require a great deal of UNIX background. Many UNIX novices have successfully installed Linux on their systems. This is a worthwhile learning experience, but keep in mind that it can be frustrating. Moreover, once you are ready to delve into the more complex tasks of running Linux--installing new software, recompiling the kernel, and so forth--having background knowledge in UNIX is necessary.
[...]
Nobody can expect to go from UNIX novice to UNIX system administrator overnight. No implementation of UNIX is expected to be maintenance free. You must be prepared for the journey that lies ahead. Otherwise, if you're new to UNIX, you may very well become frustrated with the system." (emphasis added)
- Preface to the Linux User Guide (N. Drakos / C. Grove)
A few paragraphs into the manual, and already I don't like the author's overtly paranoid tone. What can I say, I'm intimidated...
...by a cute penguin.

Haha. Don't worry. I can assure you, it is really a long road -_-' Good to see you have a user guide. Mr Penguin's name is Tux btw, and here's a warm welcome to his world...
That assurance is not at all reassuring xD
I'll need your help a lot!!
Ps. Haven't decided whether to pat or squish Mr. Tux.
First time I came across Linux was in Form 4. After all that guidance by my lecturer, I gave up. Frustration was only the beginning! But it's good in certain ways. Umm. Good luck.
Will try best to overcome the teething problems, I hope.
A question for you: Would you pat or squish Mr. Tux? :P
Twisted Heels :: wow your teacher taught you in form 4? if only i was introduced to it at that age...
kopi - Are you a full-time Linux user now?
cy: He was squished! Btw, remember Xue Yang? He just asked me about Linux the other day. You both might want to join forces.
kopi: It's never too late to learn (and nop, I don't wanna be in that category) :P
