Earthed, Discharged, Grounded

I have been living these few weeks of my life in almost complete oblivion to international news.

What bombing? What terrorism? How many were killed?

What tsunami?

There's just too much news, too many things happening around the world to care -- or to be able to. Conflicts are everywhere if you care to look -- to search for them -- be they internal, external, self-inflicted, third-party, fourth-party...

But life is too short to look at the dark side. Oftentimes when I walk to lectures -- and yes I greatly enjoy walking to lectures -- I'd stop and admire the sparse clouds generously peppered over the blue sky that stretches over our heads, while the green trees that form mountains wait below like a safety net.

I see birds hopping about, cocking their heads here and there, chirping words I don't understand. I see monitor lizards who scurry away in quick clumsiness whenever humans approach -- Monitor lizards are a USM specialty.

I see small children running around my residental village (a fancy term for 'hostel'), blowing into the pond whenever they spot fishes. The water ripples, much to their joy -- and the fishes' horror!

This world is filled with stranglingly overloaded amounts of all elements, waiting to be discovered. Of joy, of happiness; of pain, of sadness; some of neutrality, for calmness and relaxation.

I bask in all of them. But through it all, I make a conscious effort to see the bright side of things, to feel joy in everything I do.

I pride myself in being (slightly) ignorant -- I see no wrong in it and I will never apologize for it. Sometimes, I sit back and let the world pass by.

That's how I keep my sanity. That's how I'm reminded of where I came from -- of where I started.

That's how I stay grounded.

celest - It's really wonderful to walk in USM, with all the greenery. Plus the buses are always packed.

Know what, the trees are protected by campus laws -- none can be chopped down even though they block the sidewalks. Instead, we're supposed to twist our bodies to avoid them xD

lunaticgal - Found your site by accident. Good to hear that! :)
