An Ethnic Story / A Story of Gratitude
Some readers might remember that at the beginning of this year I asked you some "weird" questions, in my previous blog. I was canvassing readers' opinions concerning our reality shows -- mainly Malaysian Idol and to a limited extent, Akademi Fantasia -- on whether race plays a part in the contestants' winning. This was for an Ethnic Relations project I was to do.
At that time, I knew nothing about Macromedia Flash -- though I've always wanted to learn it. Just so happened that my Academic Advisor requested me to prepare this report in Flash -- he made it clear, no PowerPoint or else! -- and what better time to learn it than then, so I took up the challenge.
With the help of my old friend and software engineering expert John, I mastered Flash in two weeks -- enough for a decent presentation. For the content, I encountered little problem, for I was blessed with wonderful friends who willingly supplied feedback and opinions to help me along, with some even giving me permission to use their photos!
I am very grateful to all of you and if I haven't thanked you yet, allow me this opportunity to do so whole-heartedly.
My initial plan was to upload the presentation for online viewing after it was done, but I was soon to discover that the file size increased drastically with every small thing added, that towards the end of the project, my laptop started to suffer.
Many a time, the shortcuts blantantly refused to work, thus shocking my face green for a few seconds. Many a time, the file terminated before I could save it, thus teaching me the value of patience and perseverance...
Needless to say, after I was done, the file is now too large for online publishing.
Therefore, some of you may not have seen the finalized version of my presentation -- some of you may not have seen it at all! But, rest assured that throughout my project, I kept every single one of you in mind. So, once again:
Arranged in no particular order...
(In the real thing, the credits scroll up majestically. That's Miss Cappucino on top :P)
You can see an abstract of my project online:
