Overheards during Starwalk 2006
(The following conversations are translated from Penang Hokkien)
Barely had the 10km journey begun, and starwalkers (and several star runners) thronged the roads:
Man: Hey! Meet at coffee shop! *gestures with fist and thumb pointing at mouth, signifying a drink*I never saw those two men again.
Another man somewhere behind: *very loudly* COFFEE SHOP!!
A few steps ahead, around Sunshine Square Bayan Baru area:
Wife: *sniff sniff* Mmm.. smells fragrant!I never saw that couple again, either.
(Me: *thinks: Lady's getting turned on by sweaty walkers?*)
Hubby: That's KFC lah, dear.
Wife: K-F-C!! *eyes light up*
After the walk, at the Digi exhibition booth:
Me: Can I have that free gift bag?Few minutes later:
Lady at counter: You can have it... only if you activate TrueTones on your phone --
Me: Right...
Lady at counter: Or you can activate MTV Powerpack! Free downloads! Free sms to six family and friends!
Me: Uh, that's okay... *thinks: Oh my god! She doesn't even blink!*
Lady at counter: It's only RM5... monthly! Then we'll give you this bag, free!
Me: *runs away*
Dad: Hey son. They're giving out Digi bags over there. I got one here, see!
Me: -_-"
The lucky draw offered 100 prizes to the 10,000-odd participants. Needless to say, at the end of the lucky draw:
Young man who didn't win anything: I wasted, like, don't know how many hours of my life here... *proceeds to curse in colourful Penang Hokkien*
Oh yes. Starwalk is fun, in more ways than one ;)

Time taken to complete 10km: 1 hr 25 min (average speed = 1.961 m/s or approx. 2 m/s)
Weather: Clear / sunny
Stamina: Surprisingly excellent
Observation: Crowd-favourite emcee Michelle Goh is absent this year.
Celebrities met: None, though reports claim they were there.
Friends met: None. Note to self: Must encourage friends to join next year.

chin chin - Oh how could you miss it? Even Singaporeans make it all the way to Penang for Starwalk. All the winners in the women's category this year are Singaporeans, with the exception of two locals! No kidding! :)
bubbly soda - Sure did! I believe I have won draws before, though nothing outstanding and never from Starwalk. In fact, it's been a few years since my family won anything from Starwalk. Maybe we will next year!
